The Taipa Bridge in Macau, also known as the Sai Van Bridge, is the third bridge connecting the Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island. Construction commenced on October 8, 2002, and it was opened to traffic on January 9, 2005. This bridge started from Ronghe Gate in the north of the Macau Peninsula and connects the Taipa Dock in the south. Adopting the harp-shaped cable-stayed style, it has two decks: the upper deck is equipped with 6 two-way lanes and the lower deck is box-structured and equipped with 4 lanes. It can ensure normal traffic in the face of a Force-8 typhoon. Space has also been reserved in the bridge for the light rail in future.
