MACAU
Macau was a Portuguese colony until 1999. Now, it falls as Chinese Special Administrative Region (SAR) within the sovereignty of the People's Republic of China, but is not part of Mainland China. Macau possesses its own government and legal system. Parishes The population of parishes (freguesias) of Macau according to census results. Cotai is newly reclaimed land between the (formerly separated) islands of Taipa and Coloane. Parishes of Macau
Macau is divided int two distritos (districts), which are subdivided into seven freguesias (parishes). In addition, the census returns show a maritime area which apparently represents people living in houseboats. The "Co-Tai reclamation zone" refers to landfill in the area of Coloane and Taipa islands.
