Gao Ming-xuan
Gao Mingxuan(1928-), a native of Yuhuan County in Tai Zhou, Zhejiang Province, is a famous contemporary Chinese jurist and educator of law; one of the main founders and pioneers of the new Chinese criminal law; as well as the founder of international criminal law research in China. He is also the first doctoral tutor of Chinese Criminal Law Science. His major works include The Birth and Development of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China; History of New Chinese Criminal Law; and Principles of Criminal Law.

Waseda confers an honorary doctorate upon Emeritus Professor Gao Mingxuan at Renmin University of China

Waseda University conferred an honorary doctorate upon Emeritus Professor Gao Mingxuan at Renmin University of China on November 22. Professor Gao is a pioneer in Chinese criminal law, who has contributed to expanding academic exchange in the discipline of criminal law between China and Japan. The ceremony and a commemorative lecture by Professor Gao took place at Okuma Auditorium, where students, faculty, staff, and related personnel attended the event.

Dean of BNU Institute of Criminal Law Science, Gao Mingxuan, Wins Cesare Beccaria Award

From April 12 to April 19, 2015, the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice was held at the International Conference Center of Doha, the capital of Qatar. More than 110 ministers from 142 countries as well as 5,000 delegates from across the world were present. As a member of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme Network Institute (PNI), the BNU Institute of Criminal Law Science (ICLS) sent a delegation to take part in the Congress. Gao Mingxuan, Honorary Dean of the ICLS and Distinguished Professor, served as the counselor for the delegation and won the Cesare Beccaria Award presented by the International Society of Social Defense. On the afternoon of April 20, the delegation returned with honor, warmly welcomed at the Capital International Airport in Beijing by Liu Li, Vice Chairperson of the BNU Council, and directors from the ICLS.
